About Nordic Wines

Nordic Wines (South Africa) was established in January 2007 by Wiggo Andersen from Norway and Peter Tillman from South Africa to release the wine label from Wedgewood, Wiggo’s winefarm in the Paardeberg region between Paarl and Malmesbury.

VikersundEarly in 2008, they worked with Norwegians Morten Valstad and Inger Lise Nesttun at the Cape Town Convention Centre in the successful Norwegian bid to host the 2012/2013 Olympic Ski Jumping Championships.

It was during this time of campaigning and celebrating that their plans took fruition to expand the business to include exporting South African wines. In February 2009, Nordic Wines (Norway) was established in the quaint Norwegian town of Vikersund, home of the world-class ski jumping hill. www.vikersund.no

Since then 8 cellars have been included in their export portfolio, as well as items made from oak wine barrels.  The four directors then turned their attention to other Scandinavian countries, and currently deal with agents in Norway, Sweden and Finland.

Nordic Wines ascribes its success to the fact that each director is an integral part of the value chain. In Norway, Morten is the logistics expert and liaises with Customs to ensure the smooth arrival of containers. Inger Lise is the Company Secretary and handles the accounting, as well as the marketing of the oak barrel products. Exports

Wiggo has a high standing in the international travel business and thus has been able to open many doors through his vast network of associates and friends. With his passion for South Africa and its peoples, he has homes in both countries and spends at least three months in South Africa each year.

Peter is responsible for running the South African Head Office in Robertson, Western Cape. His portfolio includes liaising with local wineries, sourcing tender wines for Scandinavia, controlling the loading of containers, and the production of the oak barrel products.

Between bi-annual visits to each other’s countries, the four directors keep in close contact and skype every week to discuss procedures and ensure clear lines of communication.
